Oıl on Canvas
Landscape Paintings
2014 - 2022
"In 2014, after graduating from Korean Language and Literature, I began taking landscape oil painting lessons from my father, Mustafa Günen, in his art studio in Nişantaşı, Istanbul.
I was deeply drawn to the luminist style—its delicate balance of light and emotion—and feel incredibly fortunate to have learned under the guidance of my father, whose artistic passion shaped my early creative years.
From childhood, I’ve been mesmerized by the northern lights. That fascination led me to develop my own aurora-inspired painting technique. One of the greatest honors for me was receiving heartfelt support for these works from aurora photographer and educator Vincent Ledvina ("The Aurora Guy") through social media.
While I no longer actively paint in oils, these works remain a foundational part of my artistic journey and are included here as a tribute to where it all began."

ARTISTIC RECOGNITION
Esra began her artistic journey with luminist-style landscape oil paintings under the mentorship of her father, artist Mustafa Günen. Her work received widespread appreciation both in Türkiye and internationally:
Exhibition Invitations:
She was invited to exhibit her landscapes by PAKS Gallery, with opportunities at iconic venues including the Louvre (Paris), Cannes Film Festival, Art Basel (Switzerland), and museums in Austria and Germany.
She also received an exhibition offer from a French gallery, and several curators from Europe and in Türkiye expressed admiration and offered her solo shows.
International Attention:
Her landscape artworks drew appreciation from professional artists, musicians, and art galleries around the world via social media.
Notably, she received likes and engagement from international landscape photographers and visual art curators.
Despite the recognition, Esra later shifted her focus toward her passion: abstract expressionism, where she could further explore emotional, symbolic, and cross-sensory storytelling.
